This dynamic practical 2 hour session covers the fundamental difference in the scaling stroke and the root planing stroke. Learn the difference between the two strokes and adaptability to different root surfaces and areas while practicing on tooth cookies and periodontal dentoforms. Hone your skills by learning selection and adaptation of regular periodontal scalers, after-fives, mini’s and files. All instruments and materials are supplied for this course. Circulating instructors will offer one on one instruction and tips to participants.
PATTY GAINER, RDH
Patty is a Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta. She has been a practicing dental hygienist in the periodontal field for over 25 years and has combined her clinical career with teaching in the dental hygiene program and continuing education department for over 20 years. Patty was involved in the development and implementation of the Local Anaesthesia Continuing Education Course and is Coordinator of this course in the Dental Hygiene program. She has taught in many aspects of both the DH Program and as an instructor in the Ultrasonics, Refresher and Periodontal Root Planing Continuing Education courses. Patty has received several awards and acknowledgements in recognition of her excellence in clinical skills and teaching achievements.
